Well, my wonderful friends, I have made it back from sunny Tucson. This trip was packed with some pretty memorable things. I got to see my cousin, who lives in Lawrence KS. I know, strange. We had a great time letting our hair down and giggling up a storm. What the heck no one knew us in Tucson. We spent time with our dear friend in Green Valley and we got to spend time with some other friends who were hitting up the gem shows.
The shows were great. I found a few (new to me) stone dealers and feel like I am bringing back some affordable and awesome stones to our customers. Some of, well a lot of, the prices were much higher this year. Food and lodging were pretty crazy, but we managed.
We also spent some time touring DeGrazia home, studio, museum. It was amazing. Look him up. His stations of the cross are so interesting. He narrates as you view the pictures. Very moving!
The most exciting for me was my workshop with Hoss Rogers. He is a wonderful teacher. I had been planning this for some time and wondering what my ring design would be. I decided to make myself a birthday ring, as I have one coming up April 1. This led me, to my dad always telling me that I lead a charmed life, so I decided on good luck charms, horse shoes, clovers, wish bones, etc. On the inside is I love you in sign language. I guess that is a reminder that even when they are gone, their love lives on. It also gives me the reminder to love and care for myself. The process to make one of these rings is physical, but also somewhat emotional. My hope is that I can find a way to make this experience available to customers. So, you all might want to start thinking of what kinds of stamps would be meaningful to you.
One of the best things about leaving home, is coming back home. I love Hutchinson. There is a sense of belonging here and my bed was the most comfortable nights sleep I have had in over a week. Lol. I can’t wait to get back to working down at the shop. I plan on being there every afternoon this week. Give me a call and stop by.
Much Love,
Lisha
